In the central square of a northern Greek town, the statue of Her Majesty the Queen of the Hellenes has been removed, and on the billboard of the first cinema poses Zoe Laskari, in 'The Downward Path'. The stone house is rooted in the earth and its many residents in their obsessions. On one August night two visitors arrive, lovers: the man is a fugitive, brought there by the woman. Nobody expects or knows him, and every resident is red-hot iron to him, while the woman is locked in her room. One of them must speak first or the relationship will blow up. At daybreak the mansion begins to dig up secrets, mistakes, hidden ruptures and firm convictions.
