A Gorda

Maria Luísa is clever, a good student, strong-willed and sure of herself. She is also overweight, and that one fact seems to unsettle everything else: how she meets the world, how she sees what happens to her, and her love life, above all her troubled bond with David, the first boy she loves. As a teenager she puts up with her schoolmates' jokes and insults without a word. The tone is satirical, funny and cruel by turns, aimed at how we see ourselves and at bias.
