In winter a plane lands here once a week at most; in summer two ships bring a year's supplies. The author spent three months in Qaanaaq and Siorapaluk, where winning the Inughuit's trust took time. She joined their hunts and visits and listened to talk of daily life, climate catastrophe, history and their difficult ties with the rest of the world.
