Slim is a young emergency doctor in Tunisia, worn down by pressure and on the edge of burn-out, unable to care for patients as he believes he should. In 2002, after a devastating event and a scandal, he flees with a woman friend and drives by 4x4 across the whole continent, from Cap Angela in Tunisia, Africa's northernmost point, to Cape Agulhas in South Africa, its southernmost. On the way he meets shortages of medicine, corrupt aid organisations and constant insecurity, and the road turns into an inner, spiritual journey of encounters and discoveries. Hunted again, he goes deeper into the bush, where he comes to know the traditional healing of the sangomas.
