Samia is a girl from Mogadishu with running in her blood. She shares her dreams with Alì, her best friend and first, passionate coach. As Somalia falls ever deeper into political and religious extremism, she trains at night in an empty stadium to hide from the fundamentalists, and at seventeen qualifies for the Beijing Olympics, where she comes last but becomes a symbol for Muslim women. Her real dream is to win in London in 2012. But things grow harder: she has to run inside a burqa, she suffers a terrible loss, and the boy who was like a brother changes her life. One night she leaves on foot, alone.
