Morris Goldberg has more or less retired from analysing metadata. He lives alone, talks in his head to Sadie, the wife he lost not long ago, and has never been able to cry. Then he hears that his daughter Rachel has disappeared while out in the bush, and a storm is on its way. As he waits for word, moments from his boyhood and his marriage play out again in his mind, and remembering slides into dreaming.
