Olm, a provincial town on the Danube, in the mid-1960s. After falling from a cherry tree in the yard, young Mihail Obretenov, known as Misho, starts dreaming of Ka, a frog who shows him the future, but only the bad things that will happen to him and the people close to him. When a gruesome murder shakes the town, he has already seen the killer in his sleep. The first part follows his childhood: his first love for an older girl, games and frog-shooting with the boys of the neighbourhood, and the funny incident that earns him the nickname 'the Frog'. In the second, the grown Misho is a celebrated cellist on tour across Europe, writing letters to his dead father from city after city, still pursued by prophetic nightmares and an ever deeper loneliness.
