Rome, early 1990s: the dreams of the twentieth century are ending and Berlusconi is on his way to power. A thirty-year-old writer, cynical and naive, absent-minded and deep, takes a job at the Pier Paolo Pasolini archive, a maze of papers in a big building in the Prati district. It is ruled by Laura Betti, an irascible actress past her prime who claims to be the poet's spiritual heir and behaves as if possessed by him. Through her the young man meets Pasolini himself, and through Petrolio, the unfinished novel published in 1992, he is led towards an initiation into mysteries that will take him twice to Eleusis in Greece.
