Ivan Kalda, a photographer from a Zagreb suburb, grows up in a dysfunctional family and in turn becomes a dysfunctional member of the family he tries to start. His youth runs through the mythical seventies, the years of the Croatian Spring and home-grown hippies, of traumatic sexual experiences, friendships, fights and youthful experiments. Kalda tries to look back over his life from its very beginning, through childhood and adolescence to maturity. Just when, at thirty, he ought to settle into a responsible life, he is caught in the net of war, its aftermath and the transition, whose rules he cannot fit. A man on the margins, he reflects the changes Croatian society has gone through over recent decades.
