Sonja lives alone in Copenhagen and is trying to learn to drive, but she never manages to assert herself with her bossy instructor, nor to draw lines anywhere else in her life. Attacks of positional vertigo make her even less sure behind the wheel. A masseuse in Valby kneads her shoulders and pries into her feelings. Her sister Kate, back home in Balling in West Jutland, has stopped answering the phone. Whenever she ought to stand firm, Sonja retreats into memories of the open fields, trees and animals of her childhood.
