Dora takes the train to Prague to study screenwriting at the famous FAMU film school, hoping that life there will give her all she wants, from freedom and sex to success and money. She soon falls into a passionate affair with Leon, an older widowed photographer who has never got over the death of his young Andalusian wife, Ayna; for Dora it is a first great love, for Leon she is not much more than a shadow of the dead woman. Alongside this unusual love story runs the story Dora is writing, which sends its heroine on an Andalusian adventure in search of galgos, wild dogs, on the out-of-season coast near Cádiz. Moving between the Czech Republic, Spain, Turkey and Rijeka, the novel blends autobiography and fiction.
