Ο Δον υπαστυνόμος

As a schoolboy Astolfo read literature with a beloved teacher by a crackling stove, until the teacher was posted to a remote village near Zaragoza. Feeling betrayed by his only friend, the boy tore up the classics, folded Sappho's poems into paper planes and turned, in revenge, to crime novels. Now Astolfo Varnakomboumpo is a Don Quixote of detective fiction: in Madrid and Cervantes's La Mancha, by sheer chance, he takes on the investigation into the murder of the stilt-walker Tío Armelino and his groom, in a surreal parody of the genre's conventions.
