A bank is robbed, and the employee Victoria is given leave to get over the traumatic experience. Only recently returned to her home city, she uses the time to explore the Bucharest of her childhood in the Ceaușescu era and the Bucharest of today, a city both familiar and completely changed. In the hottest summer for years she drives through the city in a convertible with her current boyfriend, who proposes to her, and meets again the old seamstress on her platform, the bank robber, her former lover and the son of the murdered neighbours. Stories full of wit and melancholy make a portrait of Romania that is also a book about remembering.
