Since a certain incident, Shifumi has hardly left her room. When she sees her 'big sister' on television, she makes her way to a zoo and botanical garden and meets Shineno, a bonobo once taught language like a learning machine. The two form a bond with a private charm only they understand. Shifumi feels she is only acting the part of a human woman, a skin she longs to shed, much as Shineno, behind the glass, plays at being an ape.
