Opportunity

After an operation, a man is confronted with his own death. A devout Christian comes face to face with someone who harmed her long ago. A secretary stumbles on the private shame of the man she works for. And an old woman in Auckland is writing a final book that, she says, records every crime she has committed. Story by story, connections between these people surface, and so does the question of who is writing them.
