Mea Culpa

A spring's thin stream cuts a village in half. Amadeu Jesus has been robbed of his faith; Cândida Jesus, whose son killed, now sells herself; Briosa, quiet and eager for life, has a little mute brother. On the feast of Our Lady of Fátima an innocent is released from a decade of torment, and on the far bank of the stream two people fall in love. With their dog, they dream of leaving across the mountains to learn what freedom is like.
