Niebko

Marzena, who lives in Berlin, tells her family's story, a piece of Polish, Belarusian and German history. Before the war, in the eastern borderlands, a Polish farmers' maid gives birth in the attic and dies, and from then on a demon follows the family through generations. In the winter of 1939, a poor German mother with three children leaves Galicia on Hitler's orders for the Warta region; in January 1945 she flees the Red Army back to the Reich.
