The poet Sturla Jón Jónsson goes to a poetry festival in Lithuania. There his country's cultural ambassador has to deal with mishaps and unexpected blows on foreign soil, but also with happier surprises such as meeting the poet Liliya Boguinskaia. He struggles with an unpoetic reality, with the criminal who lives in all of us, and with the threat his own creation poses: the hard truth that to be ourselves we have to steal from others. Fine-drawn humour goes hand in hand with tragic fate.
