A fishing village somewhere at the end of the world lies by a lake that is drying out and ominously pushing back its shores. The men have vodka, the women worries, the children eczema. Nami has nothing but a grandmother with thick hands, and a first love that Russian soldiers take from him. Setting off with only a bundle of nerves and his grandfather's coat, he goes out into the world to look for his mother, through toxic mud, abandoned houses taken over by the last desperate inhabitants and by soldiers. He must cross the lake, walk around it and finally dive to its bottom for its greatest secret. It is a raw coming-of-age story and a parable of ravaged nature and ravaged human bonds.
