Alok

Pratiwi mourns her elder brother Santoso, who was swallowed by the southern sea off Java. Her grief opens onto the world of Javanese mysticism, for she has a gift for reaching the unseen. Deaths, restless spirits and a journey to lift the veil on a mystery are woven together with traditional wisdom and the warm story of a family. The spirit world here is not a place of horror, as so often in popular culture, but runs alongside the visible one, and the bond between brother and sister reaches beyond death.
