Iblis Tanah Suci

Stories of people at their lowest, in a community that still holds to beliefs about ancestral spirits, where the world of the living and the world of the spirits sit side by side and the state hardly seems present. In one, Dobaq, a small, illiterate man whom his wife thinks useless, taps palm sap, makes palm wine and drinks until he passes out, waking each day ravenous, while his wife patiently picks off the scales that grow over her body.
