The life of Anne Beaumanoir, told as an epic poem. Born in 1923 in Brittany to a modest family, she joins the communist Resistance as a teenager and saves two Jewish youths, for which she will later be honoured as Righteous Among the Nations. After the war she becomes a neurophysiologist in Marseille, and in 1959 she is sentenced to ten years in prison for supporting the Algerian independence movement. Her story asks what drives someone into resistance, what they sacrifice for it, and how far they may go.
