In a near future that is recognisably Slovene yet global, consumer society has been pushed to the extreme and the social classes live almost completely cut off from one another. Borut, a successful advertising man, gradually realises that his success rests on lies and that the corrupt world he helped to shape through his work is the one he now lives in. His marriage falls apart, and he leaves his family and his career in search of a different way of life that might overcome the coldness between people. The novel is a story of a broken marriage and a desperate search, and a sharp, grotesque anti-utopia of a world only slightly more radical than our own.
