“The Aunts and Other Poems” (title translated by AI)

Like snapshots in an album, these poems return to childhood and family: the solitary aunts dancing on an island in the archipelago, a father dying in a hospital ward, a husband's mother who wants her bridal gown as a shroud. Alongside the family portraits come literary encounters with fellow artists and close readings of paintings by the seventeenth-century painter Nicolas Poussin.
