Daria's fate was sealed at birth by a missed diagnosis: she cannot walk or speak and communicates only through her smile. Her mother Ada, once a dancer, learns as she nears fifty that she too is seriously ill, and decides to address her daughter directly and tell their story. Everything passes through the two women's bodies, bound to each other in complete dependence: the daily exhaustion, the anger and the secrets, but also unexpected joys and moments of great tenderness. Past and present intertwine as the mother looks at her own life, the dance she gave up and the love she was thrown into against her will.
